At Wharton Goldsmith, we’re committed to the ethical production of handcrafted jewellery. We believe that you deserve to know where we source our materials, whether you’re purchasing a unique Christopher Wharton design or are having a family heirloom repaired at our workshop.

You can rest assured that all of our materials are responsibly sourced. From our recycled precious metals that feed into our support of sustainability in the jewellery industry to our conflict-free diamonds.

Recycled precious metals

We understand the environmental cost of mining for precious metals and consequently are committed to their recycling. In practice, this means we provide a gold and platinum refining service.

You give us your unwanted gold or platinum jewellery and we will melt it down and refine in on-site at our St. Albans workshop. These precious metals can then be reused in the creation of bespoke jewellery in the skilled hands of our expert goldsmiths and master jewellers.

Conflict-free diamonds

We are proud to be a part of the Kimberly Process, a worldwide commitment to remove conflict diamonds from the global supply chain by ensuring diamonds are mined and shipped according to certain ethical standards.

This means we never buy diamonds from unknown online sources and instead only buy from official Diamond Trading Company sightholders; that is, companies on the De Beers Global Sightholder Sales's (DBGSS) list of authorised bulk purchasers of rough diamonds.

The De Beers Group is the world’s leading diamond company and its diamonds are all certified as conflict-free. As such the De Beers Group fully supports the Kimberley Process.
